Using the Power of Running to Inspire Girls to be Healthy and Confident
Welcome to Girls on the Run. We are a life-changing, non-profit prevention program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grade. Our mission is “to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.”
Girls on the Run (GOTR) of Spartanburg has been active since January 2008. We have worked mostly with 3rd-5th grade girls in public and private schools throughout the county and we hope to offer more Girls on Track programs for middle school girls. Our program is a 10 week curriculum which we offer once during the Fall (Sept – Nov) semester and once during the Spring (Feb- May) semester.
GOTR Spartanburg is run entirely by volunteers so we need lots of help each season from runners and non-runners who can help behind the scenes. If you'd like to get involved please let us know by filling out the Volunteer Form.
Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.Read More
